Free Website Builders – Building a Website is Now Easier & Free

Jean J. White

Creating a website is no longer extremely difficult, if you compare it to the education of other technical skills. Most people easily give up and are intimidated when they are faced with certain programming and technical aspects of site building. Luckily, there is no need to fear coding and HTML any longer because they are much easier to understand especially now where you have the option to download free website builders that make the process much simpler.

Before you download a free website builder you should at least familiarize yourself with 2 components which are common to the programming language:

HTML – is the acronym for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is a language your computer understands, mostly and specifically to create a website. Web browsers, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox will then translate the code (HTML), and display it in a way we can understand it.

Coding – is how HTML is created to provide the results you are looking for on your web pages. Since coding the language is difficult for the less technical individuals there are software products, such as Macromedia Dreamweaver or Microsoft Frontpage which are 2 of the most popular used in designing professional sites.

These software programs can be relatively expensive, so for many people who cannot afford to invest on a site builder there is always the option to download a free website builder. Some programs are available without having to download anything, although you may not get as much flexibility with your design goals. There are also books and magazines containing guides that offer tutorials including ways to set up your own website quickly.

What are some of the key features a free website builder should have?

  • No HTML knowledge required – although I highly suggest you learn the language you can avoid this learning curve if you find the right site builder.
  • Step-by-Step User Guides – if you are like me, learning anything in a clearly written A to Z format is a key requirement.
  • Video Tutorials – this is a huge feature any product should have that may be intimidating to people as building a website would.
  • Bells & Whistles – I am sure you may not know what exactly these may constitute, but just take a look at some of the sites you visit and I bet there are some design features you would love to have on your web pages.
  • No Adware, Malware or Spyware – this should be for anything you download online. Always proceed with due diligence.
